Economic Future of Boone County

Over the last few months I have taken many phone calls and visited with numerous individuals that ask, “So what is your assessment of the present economic condition of Boone County (Lebanon, Whitestown, Zionsville, Thorntown, Jamestown, Advance) and what does the future hold?” These are great questions and the Boone EDC has the professional qualifications to answer.

I can assure you all that the present economic condition of Boone County is GOOD and we have SURVIVED most of devastation brought by the national economic storm. The county’s economic condition has also been described as one of the best in the Midwest. Throughout this recession, Boone County has only lost 1 major company, continued to attract new basic employers (which have created over 2,500 new jobs since 2008) to the area and our population has increased substantially (Boone County is the 4th fastest growing county in Indiana).

The Boone EDC is not funded or supported to accept an economy that is GOOD and SURVIVING. The organization exists to work with all of the people of Boone County and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Region to find ways to build an economy that can be described as BEST, GREAT and THRIVING!

The economic future of Boone County has great potential to be GREAT and FLOURISH, but everyone involved in the process must make a commitment to find creative solutions to overcome challenges, develop new and innovative public/private partnerships and most importantly find the courage and will, to TAKE DYNAMIC RISKS!
The Boone EDC is currently working hard to provide direction and advice to find solutions, develop successful Public/Private partnerships, and create a regulatory and business environment that will reduce or eliminate the negative impacts of RISK. We need everyone’s help to do this, so please provide opinion, suggestions, commentary or questions!
